Sea Scout Ship 502

We love to sail.

Scout Sunday Feb 7

On February 7th, our ship and Boy Scout Troop 1177 participated in the Foundry United Methodist Church’s Scout Sunday. The church held this event in order to showcase its scout groups. The scouts dressed in uniform and helped out in the services by reading excerpts, carrying the scout flag, ushering at the doors, and passing around donation plates.

Ship 502 garnered even more attention by displaying one of its sailboats in the church parking lot. “So much attention infact,” says boatswain, Eva, that the ship was able to “obtain some new members… for the church.” Yes, a family looking to join a new church reported having been drawn to Foundry after the “super-cool” sailboat in the parking lot caught their attention.

So thanks to our ingenious marketing tactic of showing off one of our small boats, the Foundry United Methodist Church has a few new faces among its congregation. We can only hope the Scout Sunday event will do the same for Ship 502.
